Homemade pita chips
I did my own taste test seasoning pita chips without any added salt. I used cumin alone; garlic powder alone; garlic powder plus paprika; and cumin plus garlic powder plus paprika. The only one I didn’t love was flavored with garlic powder alone. Feel free to experiment with your own flavor combinations, especially if you like spicier flavors like cayenne.
Homemade Pita Chips Recipe
- 3 whole pitas
- 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp ground cumin fresh
- ground pepper, to taste
- Preheat oven or toaster oven to 400°F.
- Line a baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper. Brush about a tsp of olive oil onto each pita (brush the oil onto both sides). Sprinkle the top of each pita evenly with desired spices.
- Using kitchen shears, cut each pita into wedges. Place wedges on baking sheet and bake until crispy and golden, about 8 minutes.
(per serving): 165 calories, 6 g fat, 1 g saturated fat, 178 mg sodium, 24 g carbohydrate, 1 g fiber, 4 g protein.
