I did my own taste test seasoning pita chips without any added salt. I used cumin alone; garlic powder alone; garlic powder plus paprika; and cumin plus garlic powder plus paprika. The only one I didn’t love was flavored with garlic powder alone. Feel free to experiment with your own flavor combinations, especially if you like spicier flavors like cayenne.

Homemade Pita Chips Recipe

  • 3 whole pitas
  • 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp ground cumin fresh
  • ground pepper, to taste


  1. Preheat oven or toaster oven to 400°F.
  2. Line a baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper. Brush about a tsp of olive oil onto each pita (brush the oil onto both sides). Sprinkle the top of each pita evenly with desired spices.
  3. Using kitchen shears, cut each pita into wedges. Place wedges on baking sheet and bake until crispy and golden, about 8 minutes.
